Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, Capernaum tells of Zain, a Lebanese boy who runs away from an abusive home. He is befriended by an Ethiopian woman working without papers, and looks after her baby while she goes to work. When she is picked up by the police he is forced onto the streets, taking the baby with him, and is confronted by some terrible choices.
