Louis XIV, the Sun King, slowly dies and we are voyeurs at the event. The physicians do not want to be blamed for what is coming. The ladies of the court try to keep the king’s spirits up, and the courtiers fear what will happen when he dies. At 73, Jean-Pierre Léaud as Louis gives the best performance of his career.
