Ali sells black-market petrol on the Tunisian streets, while dreaming of escaping to Europe. Just as his dream looks like becoming reality, his father dies. Ali must look after his two sisters, while paying off his father’s bad debts. Visiting his brother at a coastal resort, Ali broods over the sea: for tourists it is a spectacle, for him a barrier.
